The Kashmir files are getting ready for OTD release

Published

on

The recently discussed Bollywood film The Kashmir Files is all set to release soon. The film is set to release on May 13 via the OTT platform C5. The movie hit theaters on March 11.

The film, which tells the story of the departure of Kashmiri Pandits, was sweeping the Bollywood box office. The film grossed Rs 266.40 crore at the box office in 18 days. The film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi, Chinmayi Mandlekar, Puneet Issar, Prakash Belawadi, Atul Srivastava and Mrinal Kulkarni in the lead roles.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had come out in support of the film. Meanwhile, the Congress and the CPM had come out to criticize the film. The Congress criticized the film as distorting history. The CPI (M) Central Committee had said that the film portrayed minorities as a whole and that such communalism was unacceptable. Writer Ashok Swain and actress Swara Bhaskar were among those who criticized the film.

Kashmir Files is a Hindi film based on the lives of Kashmiri Pandits during the 1990 Kashmir riots. Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film is produced by Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek Agnihotri under the banner of Sea Studios, IAM Buddha and Abhishek Agarwal Arts.

The film has nothing to do with mainstream Bollywood cinema. The stars are not in the picture either. The film tells the true story of Kashmiri Pandits who fled the Kashmir Valley following the communal riots. Dark history shines on the silver screen. Witnesses and victims of those events are still alive. The film received a lot of emotional reactions

The story of the more than five lakh Kashmiri Pandits who had to give up everything in the valley in 1990 is not much discussed. The film is regarded as an ‘honest’ and ‘sincere’ attempt to bring it out. But he warns that it will never be a sweet truth. Pallavi Joshi is one of the producers who has played notable roles in Malayalam as well. Her husband Vivek Agnihotri is the director. Pallavi also plays an important role in the film. Mithun Chakraborty and Anupam Kher will also be seen in notable roles

The film concludes with the fatwa of Muslim organizations, protests, numerous legal hurdles, and the sprawling Kovid overcoming all obstacles. This is the experience of the first generation of victims of the genocide of the Kashmiri Pandit community in the 1990s. Pallavi Joshi and Vivek Agnihotri spent four years producing the film, after extensive research into over 700 intense interviews.

The history of the genocide against the Pandits in Kashmir is excluded from the formal study. Those who heed the call for ‘Azadi’ in Kashmir and respond that it is fundamentally a call for justice ‘are hiding the fact that there is another side to this insurgency. Kashmir … it is also the land of Pandits. Why not see the other side of the real occupiers of that land. The betrayal of Kashmiri Pandits is clearly documented in this film. After watching the film, one wonders, ‘Why is Farooq Ahmed Dar, the butcher of Kashmiri Pandits, still free to roam?

The exodus of Pandits from their homeland was a failure for Kashmir as a state. They could not give their countrymen a sense of security. That is how the extremists realized that India was a soft country and fertile ground for a separatist mentality. It gradually grew. The miserable history of Kashmiri Pandits in the hands of Islamic fundamentalists has become a suppressed truth in India. This film will make you think about why you can not look directly at history.

The film begins with the true story of the murder of Satish Tiku by the JKLF terrorists and then seeks out and destroys the Pandits. The film shows how armed men marched all over Srinagar in search of Pandits. JKLF terrorists did not leave women alone; They did not leave the children alone. Kashmir Files opens its eyes to untold stories. It then shows how to glorify terrorists as a kind of revolutionary.

It also explains the real facts as to why the Kashmiri Pandits did not take up arms to retaliate in spite of this conquest and bloodshed. That fact is heartbreaking. That is the intense experience that the film Kashmir Files provides
