Sufna is a romantic drama Film by “Panj Paani Films” with Ammi Virk and Tania Sharma, written and directed by Jagdeep Sidhu. Tania plays the character of a young woman/Girl (Teg) whose mother died and who was waiting for the return of her Daddy (Sandeep Brar), who was in the Indian army and disappeared. As a child, she longed for her mother’s love and maintained her hopes of welcoming her father, who would one day return from the front.
As he ages, the character appreciates the lessons of love and respect that his father has taught him. As a poor worker who grows cotton in the fields at harvest time, she meets Jeet(Virk), who wastes time with his friends. Jeet falls in love with her, but he has to win her heart with an advanced idea of love based on society and selflessness.
At first glance, Sufna is a typical type of story, from boy to girl and they fall in love, but the true charm of the film lies in the details. He’s been relatively better in his previous roles, but when his life is turned upside down, he remains completely expressionless. Tania is much better by comparison with an excellent cast.
The film features Vineet Malhotra’s cinematography bringing to life the lives of workers in the Punjab cotton belt, familiarizing us with a land that is more textured than a mustard field. Securing Art directors and theater activists deserve a mention for creating the perfect backdrop for the development of a love story.
